What are we thankful for this Friday!!

About our men???

1.I am thankful for all of the sweet thing my dh is insisting on doing for me lately like opening my doors etc.

2.I am thankful that he takes his job very seriously and that we have never NOT had our needs met.

3.I love how he calls me several times each day always telling me how much he loves me.

4.I love how he started a Bible Study for the older children so they can get into some deeper studies with us.

5.I love that he is really determined right now to spend more time with the children and I and it's not because I nag him about it!

We are really having fun with our Valentines day challenge!!!!! lol

Bedtimes For Children

I would love to encourage you ALL to make sure that your children are not coming before your husband.

You need to keep your marriage first.

This is best for your children.

One of the best things you can do for your children is to keep your marriage strong.

Children are miserable when Mamma and Daddy aren't happy.

Are your children up too late at night? Have you ever considered putting them to bed early enough so that your husband and you have at least an hour together every night ALONE ?

Maybe it won't work for some and that's ok.........I don't want anyone writing me and telling me how it is impossible for them to do that because of xyz. That's fine....I understand that there are unique situations.

Most of us though, could definitely put the children to bed earlier. They don't have to go to sleep right away.

My children LOVE books on tape at night!

My little boys go into their beds to be read to and tucked in by Mamma at 8:00.This gives my husband and I some time with just the older children who go to their rooms at 9:00.That gives us time alone then for at least an hour.Sometimes we even stay up later........We read together/talk/watch movies/eat dessert......:):)

We don't allow the children to call out to us every 5 minutes asking for a drink or to use the bathroom either. They are usually out in no time.

Try it!

Keep the Fire Fueled

I am SO sorry that I have not updated!!! I had something else come up that NEEDED my attention.I hope that does not happen again!!

So......How is everyone doing? I am doing great at the first 4 new habits. It makes me so happy!! :):) I have been doing great at starting the day with prayer and scripture!! I have missed a few days but not many and I *am* getting better!

Week 5 is to Keep the Fire Fueled

After several years of marriage,it starts to take alot more effort and sometimes downright *work* to keep the flame burning strong.Don't accept the idea that your marriage has to get boring, cold or stale. You *can* keep it hot! :):):)

I have lots of tips here but the one I want to suggest today is to take it upon yourSELF to keep it going.

Don't say "Honey......Lets go out on a date tonight!!"

You may be disappointed when he doesn't take initative to do that.

Instead say.......

"Honey, meet me in the bedroom at 9:00 tonight for a big surpirse." :)

YOU get the children to bed early, make a special meal, get dressed up,have a fun dessert,wine,music.......whatever.......

If he *wants* to help thats GREAT but if not thats fine too! The point is to not wait for him to do it.I have heard women say "I have tried to plan romantic times but he just isn't interested....."

I don't know many men who would refuse being dragged into the bedroom by their wives:).

So,take it upon yourself to set up some romance......Don't nag and say "Honey.......Are you going to put the children to bed? Honey are you going to help with supper so we can have time together? Honey are you going to........"

Set it up and make it happen!! :):)
