Friday........Thankful list!
First,I am sorry I didn't post yesterday.I was so busy and then I forgot.I will post SATURDAY what I was going to post yesterday.
How is everyone doing?
Week 1-Greet him with JOY when he comes home and then keep your words sweet for *at least* 15 minutes.
Week 2-Start your day strong! Take time to get your priorities straight.Pray for strength and read your Bible.
Week 3-Never scold your husband.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am doing great.The hardest thing is for me to read my Bible and pray in the mornings.As I have said before,this is something I have wanted to make a habit of for YEARS and I have never stuck with it.I really want to change that.I want it to be so that I crave/need that time with the Lord like I do the other things in my life that I love.I want it to be HABIT.
Today I opened my Bible as soon as Scott walked out the door and I had my time praying too.I am very happy about that!!!
My thankful list for this week.
1.I love that he loves people as much as I do.We both love having company/socializing.*Especially* with other christians.
I don't know about you ladies but when I read your lists I think we all have pretty amazing husbands!
Don't you just LOVE godly men? ALL godly/masculine men and fathers? What would we do without them?
Are you going to have a great weekend?
Decide NOW that you will!
Atleast that you won't let YOUR attitude ruin the weekend.
Fridays are going to be our "Thankful list" day.Every week we will add 5 things to the list for a total of 40 traits our husbands have that we are thankful for.Try to be specific.Instead of just saying "He is a godly man",make it more detailed.
Read your list often.It is so easy to fall into thinking negative thoughts about our men.We need to remember all of the wonderful things about them.It really helps you to be less critical and MORE thankful.
I will start mine!
1.I love that he loves to talk to me and calls me several times a day.
2.I love that he worries about us when we are out grocery shopping or ANYWHERE away from home.
3.I love that he is such a good worker that everyone wants him.Sometimes that takes him away from me but I have learned to be thankful for that.I have a man who takes providing for us very seriously.
Post your lists here for all of us to see! Here is your chance to brag on your man! Every week on Friday you can update your list!
Energetic children
Well,I am 14 weeks along in my pregnancy and my morning sickness is starting to go away.I am thrilled about that! I can't *wait* to be back to myself again.Cooking for my family has been especially challenging because the smell of almost everything (especially meat) makes me SO sick.I am convinced that I have been doing a terrible job of keeping them healthy because friends of ours just visited from out of state and ALL of my children got sick and none of theirs did! Which brings me to the topic that I wanted to write about.
Do you ever get frustrated withe the never ending energy and appetites that your children have? I know that it can be a challenge for me at times! When my children are sick though,it always reminds me to be SOOOOOO thankful for healthy,energetic,HUNGRY children! :)
Just imagine the parents out there who are dealing with terminally ill children! I look at my little children laying around with no appetites and energy and even though I feel bad for them,I know they will be back to their normal selves soon.I can't help but imagine how it would feel to have a child who very likely may NOT get better........May NEVER again have an appetite or race around the house full of energy..........and may be in pain that just might have no end in sight.
I take SO much forgranted!!!!!!!!! Thank you dear Lord for energetic,hungry children!!!!!!!! May I fully appreciate them and do my best to take care of them with love and patience because I never know what might happen tomorrow!
Joy is often lacking in a woman's life..........
because she is not thankful.
I read that line recently and loved it.
Sure,there are times to grieve.Most often though,in my life and what I see in the lives of others,99% of our unhappy moments stem from unthankfulness.
Bad moods because the house is a mess.
Attitudes because a dh isn't doing something we think he should be doing.
Feeling depressed because there is 2 ft of snow on the ground.
Pouting because we didn't get to do something that we really wanted to do.
Sighing because the toddler won't quit getting into everything.
Complaining because our groceries didn't get bagged properly at the store.
Sulking because it seems like all we do is train children.
Being impatient because our children are asking us to many questions.
I need not keep listing things because I am sure you could all add your own things to the list. It is the critical spirit.The spirit that always sees the negative instead of counting the blessings.The happy people that I know in life are not the ones that I hear complaining at the hardware store about how miserable the weather is.They aren't obsessed with discussing how high the gas prices are or how bad the economy is.Sure,they know about those things and don't like them etc. but they know that there is no purpose in dwelling on those things because there is nothing they can do about them.Dwelling on them only causes unhappiness.Happy people look on the bright side.There is always a bright side.Hapy people find the JOY in the moment.
Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness;and be content with such things as ye have:for he hath said,I will never leave thee,nor forsake thee.
Following that scripture is the key to JOY.
From the big things down to the tiny things.
I know of people who have terrible/tragic things happen to them and they are still full of joy.
I know of others who have it *all* but are miserable all the time.
Happiness is an attitude.It is not about circumstance.Do you ever find yourself saying or thinking "Well,I would be hapy too if I had what she had..........." or "Well no wonder she is always smiling,she has everything she wants........." If you are waiting for your husband to treat you better, or for your house to get organized, until you are happy, you will be waiting for a loooooooong time.Why? because you will *never* be happy if you are depending on circumstances to make you happy.
Practice makes perfect.This is another wonderful thing that I have read recently.If you have no knowledge whatsoever on how to play the violin and you pick it up and try to play your favorite song you are going to fail miserably.If you start practicing every day,before you know it your fingers will find the notes with ease.You don't even have to think about it.You can play the notes with your eyes closed,in the dark,while having a conversation with someone........The same goes for practicing thankfulness.If you struggle with anger,frustration,impatience when trials happen sart practicing patience and contentment........before you know it,it will become easier and easier and next thing you know,some little person will spill a glass of milk all through your purse and you will honestly be able to calmly say "It's ok sweetheart,I know you didn't mean to.Atleast I have a new box of checks to replace the drenched ones,I am rich enough to be able to buy a new purse if I need to,credit cards are plastic,sunglasses can be washed and best of all,I have been blessed with a little child that spills milk!!"
Spring planning/Winter thankfulness
I know,I know..............Spring *is* a long time away but it seems SO close now that Christmas is over and I am getting seed catalogs in the mail! :) It really IS close! If I take 2 weeks to get my seed order together, and then it takes 2 weeks to get my seeds, that will put me at FEB 1 and that means I would be able to start some seeds! It is a little early but I always start atleast some that early because I am so anxious.....We will be tapping 100 maple trees the whole month of March, part of April and after that......spring will truly be here! :) It is exciting......
BUT I am not tired of winter.There isn't any *sense* in me being tired of winter as winter IS here to stay for a while yet.:) I either have to like it or choose to be unhappy.I choose to like it.There are many things about winter that I am still looking foreward to enjoying......
Baking with my children.
Reading books to my children in front of a warm fire.
Hot chocolate
Warm fires :)
Being tucked up in a warm house in the middle of a beautiful snowstorm.
Having my sweet husband home more.
Having less work to do.
School with my children.
Sewing,quilting,knitting,crocheting etc.Not much time for or desire to do those things in the summer.
I am sure there are more things but those are enough to make a person thankful for winter I think!! :)
So here is a mini challenge for all of you who enjoy spring like I do......:) Learn to enjoy and be thankful for the season you are in! Think of it this way......If you live in a climate with 4 seasons and you live for 50 more years,you have aprox 150 months of winter to face and that is aprox 14 years.......14 years of unthankfulness and complaining or 14 years of joy! :):)
I am going with the joy! :)
